Volunteers are an important key to keeping the Shakespeare Festival free for the community. There are several opportunities to volunteer year-round, and all ages are welcome to participate.

Individual Volunteers
We need 10-14 volunteers each night to assist with front-of-house duties before the production and during intermission. For questions or more information, please email Clarate Heckler at or call (816) 531-7728.

Corporate and Company Group Volunteers
Groups are encouraged to volunteer one or more nights. Festival Volunteer Groups are recognized from the stage and can wear company t-shirts and/or logos while volunteering. It is a great opportunity to promote your company or organization while supporting the Festival. For questions or more information, please call or email Clarate Heckler at or (816) 531-7728 to discuss available dates and to reserve your night in the park!

What to Expect
Volunteers should arrive at Southmoreland Park by 5:30 p.m. on your chosen night(s). Parking is available for you on Oak Street and Warwick Streets, which border the park. Please look for the volunteer entrance, located inside of the front gate, and check in with the Volunteer Coordinator. Job assignments and instructions will be given after check-in. No prior training is needed. Most volunteer jobs are finished between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 pm. Some jobs are finished by the time the show begins. If volunteers would like to stay and watch the play, seating is provided.
