Team Shakespeare

Team Shakespeare is the apprentice acting troupe of the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival and is by invitation only. Now in its 11th year, the group is made up of middle and high school students from around the metro area. Team Shakespeare performs year-round in many venues throughout the city. The group is led by Teaching Artists and theatre professionals dedicated to spreading the art of theatre and Shakespeare to everyone. Students must complete a year of Shakespeare Conservatory to be admitted to Team Shakespeare.

Tuition is $300 per student. Classes are held at our Shakespeare Studio, 3732 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64111. Classes run Sundays, 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. from February 3 – May 12, 2019

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Team Shakespeare performances. You will have the opportunity to enjoy not one, but TWO Shakespearean classics! Team Shakespeare presents The Comedy of Errors and Romeo and Juliet.

Team Shakespeare presents Shakespeare’s classic tale of mistaken identities, The Comedy of Errors. This production sets this madcap comedy in the Vaudeville and early movie era. Featuring beautiful costumes, classic comedy bits, and several surprise cameos from icons of the era, you won’t want to miss this unique take on a great comedy! Join us at the Rose Theatre on May 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. Pre-show begins at 6:15 p.m.

Enjoy Shakespeare’s most well-known tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Set against the backdrop of the tumultuous Reconstruction era, the civil brawl between the Capulets and the Montagues takes on a new historical context.The play will be performed outside on the grounds of the Alexander Majors House, a period correct mansion built by one of Kansas City’s first entrepreneurs. Presented on May 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. this promises to be an exciting show full of love, beauty, loss, and tragedy.
