Camp
Shakespeare is a unique and lively way for young
people to discover the basics of bringing the written
word to life through the works of the world’s
greatest playwright. We give campers an experience
full of self-expression,
confidence, creativity and teamwork. Campers
participate in acting games and exercises, physical
games and techniques,
Renaissance dance, improvisation, poetry work,
sword and costume design, stage combat, vocal
techniques,
and arts and crafts.
We explore the history of Shakespeare’s life and
times and how it compares to our own. We also visit with
professional actors, who rehearse their work for a performance
of scenes and an abbreviated version of the Festival’s
2008 performance, Othello, on the Festival
stage in Southmoreland Park.
All Camp Shakespeare performances
of an abbreviated version of Othello and will take place on the Saturday after the last camp
date.
