Camp Shakespeare Programs

Summer 2016

Fun and Games at Camp Shakespeare
Camp Shakespeare programs offer a unique summer arts adventure for young people ages 5-18. They are also an educational introduction to the works of Shakespeare and theatre taught by professional teaching artists.  Our focus in Camp Shakespeare is to give campers an experience that builds confidence, encourages teamwork, and unleashes creativity.  Camp Shakespeare also improves reading skills, concentration ability, and teaches young people the power and beauty of language.  Campers rehearse their own work for a performance of scenes, swordfights, and a shortened version of the Festival’s 2016 play on the Festival stage in Southmoreland Park.  Read what students and parents say about their Camp Shakespeare experience!

Students Demonstrate Combat Skills On Stage
Camp Shakespeare, the Festival's signature education program, is a two-week camp that builds confidence, encourages teamwork, and unleashes creativity. We offer several sessions of Camp in locations throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.  Our focus in Camp Shakespeare is to give young people a hands-on introduction to Shakespeare and the art of theater.  Camp curriculum includes history, dance, stage combat, and acting and gives students the opportunity to create their own abbreviated  production of the 2016 Festival play.  Camp Shakespeare promises a summer experience they won't ever forget!
